Coming Soon! Available in November 2025.
This Christmas Advent study for homeschooling families begins the fourth Sunday before Christmas and goes to Christmas Day. It is designed to be incorporated into your homeschooling day as your morning basket for December. There is quite a bit of content for each day, so readings will likely take about 30-45 minutes per day. If you would like a shorter study, we will also be releasing Treasures of Christmas: Advent Devotional for busy and non-homeschooling families. Since it is for Advent, there are Bible readings every day leading up to Christmas, but the weekend readings are optional, and they are much shorter with just the Bible reading, one piece of art, and a page or less in addition to the Bible reading.
There are beautiful paintings and pictures on nearly every page to help set the scene both for the Bible readings and for the novel and author studies. Many of the paintings are full-page images. The art history discusses the specific type of art that is being looked at (primarily Romantic and Baroque art), things to look for in the paintings, and symbolism in the paintings. The Bible readings begin with Genesis and look ahead to Jesus in each lesson, ending on Christmas Day with the Nativity story. The novel, Treasures of the Snow by Patricia St. John, accompanies the study. Patricia St. John has been called “a poet of forgiveness” because her moving novels are interwoven with the Gospels and focus on redemption. This story is much loved by children and adults alike and is a perfect addition to the Christmas season! An author study is also included since it is powerful, and we see many of the things from the novel in Patricia’s life story.
This study is best for children 5th grade and up, but younger children will enjoy the novel, pictures, and much of the content also. There two other versions of this study: Treasures of Christmas: Advent Devotional mentioned above and Treasures of Christmas: Elementary Advent Study for families who only have younger children.
As with all of our curriculum, this study is intended to be done family-style with all of your children at one time.
The study is approximately 150 pages and is professionally printed and spiral bound using premium 28 pound glossy paper.
