From a Christian, Creation-based, Young Earth, Apologetics Worldview

The Elementary Version of the Pacific Northwest History curriculum covers most of the content of Lesson Book 1 of the Standard curriculum. Many of the words have been simplified for a younger audience, the lessons are much shorter (2­3 pages per day), and about 25% of the content of the Standard Lesson Book #1 has been left out. There is more art history in the Elementary Version, and geography has been added. There are 120 lessons total, and 26 are from the Hands­-on Activities Book. This Elementary Version is intended for children in grades K­-5.

Children will learn about the Worldwide Flood, Ice Age animals in the Pacific Northwest, and how volcanic activity and major floods have shaped the region. They will learn about how the Northwestern Salamander and Mazama Newt have adapted to changes in their environments. They will discover why there is such a difference in climate between eastern and western Washington and Oregon. They will continue with explorers and why they were looking for a Northwest Passage, the Fur Trade, the Lewis and Clark Expedition, missionaries and why their missionary efforts failed, and the Oregon Trail. The curriculum ends with mythical monsters of the Pacific Northwest.

There are two levels of workbooks intended to be used with this Lesson Book: the K­-1 Workbook and the 2nd-5th Grade Workbook.

This curriculum is written from a non-denominational balanced perspective, with careful consideration of the views of each side of the conflicts.
